WE LIP Success Story | February 2024

On February 15, 2024, the Windsor Essex Local Immigration Partnership (WE LIP) gathered at Other Place Catering for its Winter Council Meeting with over 37 people in attendance. The event marked another milestone in fostering collaboration and growth within the community.

Here are the highlights of the Event:
Stephen Lynn, WE LIP Manager, extended a warm welcome to all attendees. A land acknowledgment understood the importance of Indigenous heritage. The council began by approving the meeting notes
from September 14, 2023. Following this, Stephen Lynn presented the 2023-2024 Terms of Reference (TOR), and the council members unanimously approved the TOR for the current period.

This meeting had WE LIP’s Executive election and the newly elected executive members were introduced,
with Ronnie Haidar from the University of Windsor assuming the role of Chair, Dr. Riham Al-Saadi from
Transparency Consulting Services as Vice-Chair, and Marion Fantetti from Invest WindsorEssex and Hussein Kawas from Conseil scolaire Catholique Providence as Members at Large. Their diverse backgrounds and expertise signal a promising period of leadership of WE LIP. The council meeting also recognized outgoing executive members, including Charlotte LeFrank, the former WE LIP Chair.

Sarah Robson from Workforce WindsorEssex presented the Open Doors Project, aimed at connecting students with employers for experiential learning opportunities. Attendees were encouraged to register opportunities on the project’s board to facilitate meaningful collaborations. Alanna Oddoye, representing the Windsor Essex Local Immigration Partnership, introduced a member survey using a QR code and link. Attendees were encouraged to participate and provide valuable feedback.

Several upcoming events were highlighted, including the Local Labour Market Plan (LLMP) Action event; the Local Labour Market Report is available here: https://www.workforcewindsoressex.com/LLMP/. Also, the WE Value Data Sharing & Community Consultation Event was highlighted, as well as the Temporary Foreign Worker Community Conversation Forum. Attendees were invited to engage with these initiatives, contributing to the community’s growth and development. The meeting concluded with announcements of upcoming WE LIP Council Meetings, including the Spring Council Meeting scheduled for May 25, 2024. The Winter Council Meeting not only addressed essential business matters but also laid the foundation for continued collaboration and community engagement.
