This tool facilitates the geographical exploration of census data. You can compare various demographic metrics between regions in absolute terms or relative to other regions. You can also view aggregated data for selected regions.
Note: This tool is not optimized for mobile and touch device usage. It is best suited for larger laptop or desktop screen sizes.
To view census data in each region for a selected topic, first select the desired topic in the Filters panel on the left side. You can select one topic at a time, with results appearing on the map for each region.
To view absolute numbers for each region, select the Absolute Comparison option from the Comparison Type option in the Census Map Tools menu, above.
To view aggregated census data for specific regions, select them by clicking on each region on the map, or by using the Region Selection option in the Census Map Tools menu. When one or more regions are selected, the Selected Regions panel appears on the right side, where you can browse results for all topics.
Select a region in the Select a Region select box. You'll see the Selected Regions panel open. You can start tabbing through the Filters panel. Once a filter is selected you will see a link appear labelled "Focus on right sidebar" Click this link to switch focus to the Selected Regions Panel, where you you can browse the Selected Region data using the Tab key.
