The Windsor-Essex region is experiencing unprecedented growth in its Electric Vehicle (EV) sector and the attraction and retention of a skilled workforce is key to the success of companies and other community partners involved in EV sector value chain activities. For the EV sector to continue to grow and thrive, the region needs to create new and support ongoing talent attraction and retention strategies and innovations. Through the effective use of these identified talent attraction and retention strategies and innovations, the region will be prepared for and become more attractive for current and future sector investments and growth.

How will we ensure that Windsor-Essex and its workforce meet the needs of a growing EV sector locally and ensure future success in a landscape where other regions are highly competitive to attract and secure EV sector investments? Strategizing around skills development and education is critical, as is ensuring we are equipped to retain and attract the skilled workforce we need in the coming years. Workforce WindsorEssex has developed this report to investigate talent attraction and retention needs for its EV sector and has provided recommendations for our region’s businesses and decision-makers to ensure the region has a steady workforce to support the region’s growing EV sector.
