In order to foster a further understanding and clear definition of the types of skills needed by local employers, Workforce WindsorEssex produced an inventory of the types of skills and skill levels required for occupations. This information was collected directly from employers, job postings, and employment and training services. This inventory also provides a common definition for each skill type such as foundational skills, soft skills, technical skills, and literacy skills. A common definition and classification of skills facilitates a better community understanding of the skills mismatch and allows for the mismatch to be better addressed.
