Region opens doors and minds about modern manufacturing

On October 7, 2022,  Workforce WindsorEssex and Invest WindsorEssex joined forces with area school boards and industry to organize the region’s 8th Annual MFG Day – a North American wide initiative aimed at sharing technology and career opportunities in modern manufacturing with high school students.

This year was our biggest year yet with more than 700 local students from local school boards participating. Students toured at least one of 18 manufacturers as part of the daylong initiative designed to address the skilled labor shortage, connect with the future workforce, take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and help ensure the ongoing prosperity of the region’s largest industry.

The tours took students around shops and plants throughout the region to experience a day in the life, ask questions, and engage in hands-on activities like creating a 3D scan and welding.

A big thank you to the participating employers, including:

We would also like to thank the region’s school boards for participating in Manufacturing Day 2022, including the Greater Essex County District School Board, the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board, and CSC Providence.
