Looking at what occupations women are interacting with, job postings for Social Workers received a 100% increase in interactions in April over March.

Social Workers help individuals, couples, families, groups, communities, and organizations develop the skills and resources they need to enhance social functioning and provide counselling, therapy, and referral to other supportive social services. Social Workers also respond to other social needs and issues such as unemployment, racism, and poverty. They are employed by hospitals, school boards, social service agencies, child welfare organizations, correctional facilities, community agencies, employee assistance programs, and Aboriginal band councils, or they may work in private practice.

Regional employers that hire Social Workers include Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare, Canadian Mental Health Association Windsor Essex County, Family Services Windsor-Essex, The Corporation of the City of Windsor, and Windsor Essex Community Health Care.

In a stark difference to the other two occupations that received a significant increase in interactions, Social Workers are typically not a work-from-home occupation. However, according to the Government of Canada Job Bank, job prospects for Social Workers are good in the Windsor-Essex region for the next three years, so this would be a beneficial path for those looking for similar work. Additionally, according to the Canadian Union of Public Employees in an article from September 2022, 85% of employees in social services are women, possibly explaining why we see such a huge increase here but nothing on the board for men.
