At A Glance: A Three-Month Overview of Careers in Technology

As the Windsor-Essex region works to brand itself as a tech hub, it’s important to look at the job demand in the area and how it compares to the number of those searching for careers in technology and computer-related fields.

Below is the overview of those searching, broken down by gender and age, as well as the number of jobs posted in the sector for the months of June through August 2019. This includes occupations such as Software Developers, Business Systems Analysts, Computer Programmers, Senior .NET Developers, Senior Java Developers, Front-End Web Developers, and IT Specialists.

 

June Findings

In June, 98 computer and technology-related jobs were shared in the region. Of those 98 jobs, 83 were identified as full-time positions, two as part time, and 13 unspecified.

In June, 40 individuals searched for keywords related to careers in computers and technology. Of those 40 individuals searching, 26 were male, two were female, and 12 declined to answer gender.

Of those 26 males, one was between the ages of 55-64, 10 were between the ages of 35-54, eight between the ages of 25-34, and seven between the ages of 15-24. The two females were between the ages of 35-54.

A total of 242 interactions, including those clicking on job postings for careers in computer-related fields, occurred during the month of June.

JuLY Findings

In July, 94 job postings related to computer programming and IT were shared for the region. Of those 94, 89 were identified as full-time positions, one as part time, and four unspecified.

A total of 23 individuals searched for keywords having to do with computer-related careers. Of those searching for keywords, 12 were male, five were female, and six declined to answer gender.

Of those 12 males, 11 were between the ages of 25-34 and one between the ages of 35-54. The five females were between the ages of 25-34.

A total of 163 interactions, including those clicking on job postings for careers in computer-related fields, occurred during the month of July.

AUGUST Findings

In August, 104 job postings related to computer programming and IT were shared for the region. Of those 104 postings, 93 were identified full-time positions, two were part time, and nine were unspecified.

A total of 22 individuals searched for keywords related to careers in computers and technology. Of those searching for keywords, 14 were male, one female, and seven declined to answer gender.

Of those 14 males, seven were between the ages of 35-54, two were between the ages of 25-34, two were between the ages of 15-24, and three were unknown. The female was between the ages of 35-54.

A total of 209 activities, including those clicking on job postings for careers in computer-related fields, occurred during the month of August.
