This weekend, we attended North Lambton Community Health Centre’s inaugural Migrant Worker Project Cup soccer tournament at the Taxandria Soccer Complex (Taxandria 2023 Falcons Soccer Club) in Arkona, ON! Kicking off at 9am, the tournament saw 7 teams compete for the championship in some great games of soccer.
The day was packed with fun for players and spectators, with music being played all day and door prizes being raffled for all (thank you to the generous donors)! The Optimist Club of Forest hosted the food booth at the event with delicious hamburgers and chicken burgers for lunch, free of charge for players and volunteers! There was also free Jamaican corn soup at the event for all to try.
Thank you to Lambton Shores Mayor Doug Cook for his opening remarks, and to Local Olympian Tyler McGregor, captain of Canada’s para ice hockey team who presented trophies and medals to the winning team during the closing ceremony. Thank you to all the players in this tournament for such competitive but friendly games, and congratulations to the first MWP Cup Champions, Roelands Plant Farms Inc!
Thank you to the countless volunteers who made this event possible, and to the numerous sponsors of the tournament:
Urban Wild Designs Inc.
