On June 13th in Leamington, South Essex Community Council – SECC hosted an unforgettable ESL class, featuring a special guest from ESDC! Workers received valuable print materials on labor rights, agency maps, mints, and an agenda to track their daily work hours.
The event welcomed workers from Mexico and Guatemala, including some with 15+ years in Canada and newcomers with just a few months of experience. Our TeaMWork Project Liaison highlighted the importance of these resources, especially the tip-line sheet.
SECC and TeaMWork worked together to distribute summer kits packed with essentials for the warmer season ahead. Workers shared their feedback through a survey, and enjoyed a delicious meal of fried chicken, salad, and snacks.
