The Youth Matrix is a collection of resources and supports available to young people up to age 30 in Windsor-Essex.

Youth Counselling Programs (below) within the youth matrix offer professional support and guidance to young individuals, addressing their mental health needs, fostering emotional well-being, and providing a confidential space for them to explore their thoughts, emotions, and challenges.

New Beginnings – (RIPP) Risk Intervention & Prevention Program

Description: The Mobile Program targets youth aged 12-20 who exhibit various risk factors, including involvement in conflict with the law, potential for reoffending, higher risk of criminal violence, residing in high-needs communities, and facing multiple challenges such as substance abuse, mental health issues, familial issues, housing instability, unemployment, poverty, and education difficulties.



New Beginnings – (NRAC) Non-Residential Attendance Centre

Description: The Youth Criminal Justice Act offers a non-custodial sentencing option for youth aged 12-17 who have been involved in criminal activity. The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board (WECDSB) can refer these youth for mental health counseling. Various therapeutic program interventions are available, such as “What Got Me Here,” Relationships and Communication,” “Anger Management,” “Youth Domestic Violence,” “Trauma Program,” “Substance Abuse Counseling,” “Art Therapy,” “Girls Group,” “Pro-Social Skills,” “Life Skills,” “Job Readiness,” “Literacy & Tutoring,” “Victim Awareness,” and “Embracing Differences.”




Youth Wellness Hubs – Mental Health Counselling

Description: Mental Health Counselling offers confidential one-on-one talk therapy facilitated by a master’s Level Social Worker, utilizing evidence-based treatments like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Motivational Therapy, with a drop-in model allowing flexible access. Additionally, clinical groups focus on addressing distressing emotions such as anxiety and depression through evidence-based treatments, providing opportunities for skill-building and coping strategies in a supportive group setting, without requiring a referral.

Description: Addiction Counselling offers personalized, evidence-based therapy for individuals seeking support in managing substance use, gaming, or gambling issues. Youth can access one-on-one sessions without waiting and participate in specialized groups that provide skills, support, and education related to addiction.

Addiction Support provides personalized assistance for individuals addressing substance use, offering a client-centered approach with a focus on coping strategies, relapse prevention, cravings, and education on addiction and healthy relationships.

Description: Teen Health provides Youth Addictions Counselling for individuals aged 12-17 who are seeking support and guidance in managing substance use behaviors and navigating the challenges of change and recovery. They also offer confidential one-on-one consultations for parents, aiming to address concerns and support the family’s healing and recovery journey.
