Health & Manufacturing: Top Occupations and In-Demand Jobs for Windsor-Essex for March 2025
This month, the Windsor-Essex region experienced a continued notable resurgence in total active job postings, following a period of decline. This upswing signals positive momentum in the local labour market, particularly within the Healthcare and Social Assistance sector, as well as in the Manufacturing sector. These industries have shown increased demand for skilled professionals, reflecting broader economic trends and the region’s evolving workforce needs.
In March, there were 3,562 total active job postings from 1,375 companies for an increase of 10% in total active job postings from the previous month. The number of new job postings increased by 9% from February, with 2,258 new jobs posted in March. The Job Board received 27,541 job post clicks, up 13% from the previous month.

Job postings in Windsor-Essex continue to rebound this month. However, the number of total active job postings are still down 28.8% from 4,999 in March 2024. The upward trend over the past three months is encouraging.

Occupations that saw a significant increase in interactions on the Job Board in March as compared to February include Construction Trades Helpers and Labourers (up 237.0%), Medical Administrative Assistants (up 154.4%), Delivery Service Drivers and Door-to-Door Distributors (up 69.4%), Other Customer and Information Services Representatives (up 55.5%), and Retail Salespersons and Visual Merchandisers (up 38.0%).
Occupations that saw a significant decrease in interactions on the Job Board in March as compared to February include Receptionists (down 27.1%); Light Duty Cleaners (down 24.2%); Material Handlers (down 11.2%); Administrative Officers (down 9.9%); and Store Shelf Stockers, Clerks and Order Fillers (down 6.7%).

Occupations that saw an increase in total active job postings in March as compared to February include Mechanical Engineers (up 121.4%), Licensed Practical Nurses (up 103.6%), Industrial and Manufacturing Engineers (up 70.0%), Retail Salespersons and Visual Merchandisers (up 33.7%), and Electrical and Electronics Engineers (up 32.5%).
Occupations that saw a decrease in total active job postings in March as compared to February include Program Leaders and Instructors in Recreation, Sport and Fitness (down 17.1%); Food Service Supervisors (down 15.6%); Retail and Wholesale Trade Managers (down 10.0%); Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses (down 8.2%); and Food Counter Attendants, Kitchen Helpers and Related Support Occupations (down 7.4%).
In comparing the most searched-for and most in-demand jobs lists for the region in March, Retail Salespersons and Visual Merchandisers; Administrative Assistants; Other Customer and Information Services Representatives; and Home Support Workers, Caregivers and Related Occupations all saw increases in both searches and demand.
Automotive Service Technicians, Truck and Bus Mechanics and Mechanical Repairers does not often appear on the top in-demand occupations list. Automotive Service Technicians, Truck and Bus Mechanics and Mechanical Repairers inspect, diagnose, repair, and service mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems and components of cars, buses, and light and commercial transport trucks. They are employed by motor vehicle dealers, garages, truck and trailer dealerships, fleet maintenance companies, service stations, automotive specialty shops, transportation companies, and retail establishments which have automotive service shops. This also includes mechanical repairers who perform major repairs and replacement of mechanical units on newly assembled motor vehicles. They are employed by motor vehicle manufacturing companies. Apprentices are also included in this group.

The top most hiring sector for March 2025 was Administrative and Support, Waste Management and Remediation Services, but it is important to note that this sector includes Employment Placement Agencies. Otherwise, we can see that Healthcare and Social Assistance sector was high up on the list, which would explain the demand for Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses; Licensed Practical Nurses; and Home Support Workers, Caregivers and Related Occupations. Manufacturing also saw a significant bump in job postings this month, which would also explain the increase in postings for Mechanical Engineers, Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and Industrial and Manufacturing Engineers.
Top Growing and Top Declining Occupations
In the Top Growing Occupations list, we do see a few that saw a significant jump in job postings this month, as noted earlier.

Industrial and Manufacturing Engineers and Electrical and Electronics Engineers are on the rise again. We also often see Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses on our most in-demand lists each month. Interesting to see on this list is the appearance of Supervisors, Supply Chain, Tracking and Scheduling Coordination Occupations, which is up 80% over the past 12 months.
Supervisors, Supply Chain, Tracking and Scheduling Coordination Occupations supervise the activities of Production and Transportation Logistics Coordinators and Supply Chain Logistics, Tracking and Scheduling Coordination Occupations. They are employed throughout the public and private sectors. They supervise, plan, assign, and review the work of clerks engaged in the following duties: shipping, receiving, storing, distributing and maintaining inventories of materials, parts and products; processing purchasing transactions; coordinating production work; dispatching crews; scheduling transportation crews and routes; and other related activities.
Regional employers of Supervisors, Supply Chain, Tracking and Scheduling Coordination Occupations include Mastronardi Produce Limited, SUNSET Produce, Mucci Farms Ltd., Stellantis (Chrysler) Windsor, and Gates Corporation.

On the other hand, the Top Declining Occupations shows a decline in certain occupations– even some that regularly appear in the most in-demand job list, including three occupations that appear there this month (Retail Salespersons and Visual Merchandisers; Material Handlers; and Other Customer and Information Services Representatives). Although these occupations have seen a decline in the past year, they are all still viable career options in Windsor-Essex, however it is helpful to watch these trends if you are considering a pivot in your career.

It is no surprise to see Windsor Regional Hospital and Extendicare on this list, with the increase in hiring in the Healthcare and Social Assistance sector. The increase in job postings in the Manufacturing sector can be attributed in part to NextStar Energy, MEDA Engineering, Stellantis (Chrysler) Windsor, Omega Tool, Altair Engineering, and Segula Technologies Canada Inc. It is interesting to note that there are no Retail Trade employers in the top 10 hiring employers for March 2025.
