THE REGION’S LARGEST JOB BOARDWith more than 2,300+ active job listings, Workforce WindsorEssex has launched the region’s largest job board called WEjobs board. This tool automatically aggregates local job postings from 14 national, provincial, and local job boards to make searching for your next job in Windsor-Essex easier than ever.

 

 

  • In May there were a total of 5,373 job postings in Windsor-Essex. 
  • Retail Salespersons had the most job postings with 243
  • Sutherland had the most job postings by employer with 143 postings. 
    • City of Windsor Employment and Training Services was seccond with 78 job postings
  • 87% of all job postings were for full-time positions
  • 88% of all job postings were for permanent positions
 

  • In May there were a total of 3,529 job search users
  • Top searched occupation: Administrative Assistants with 749 searches
  • Top selected employer/agency: City of Windsor Employment and Training Services
  • 47.2% of users searched for full-time positions
  • 60.5% of users searched for permanent positions

LABOUR FORCE SURVEY: MAY 2019

Each month we release information gathered from Statistics Canada’s Labour Force Survey about the local workforce:

  • There was no change in the employment rate.
  • The labour force increased by 600 persons
  • The participation rate increased 0.1% to 63.5%

The Health Equity and Social Inclusion – Interdisciplinary Research Group at University of Windsor (HESI-IRG) hosted a “Health Equity and Social Inclusion: Newcomers to Canada” community research dialogue event at the University of Windsor School of Social Work. WE LIP member and HESIIRG Chair, Dr. Wansoo Park, led the organizing of the event which featured exciting local research recently conducted about newcomer experiences in the Windsor Essex region. READ MORE

EMPLOYER SURVEY DRIVES ECONOMIC & WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

This past May 6-11, was Economic Development Week! We were proud to partner with WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation, the municipalities in Windsor-Essex, WindsorEssex Small Business Centre, WEtech Alliance, & the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade.
The goal was to increase awareness of local programs that create jobs, advance career development opportunities and increase the quality of life.

ST. CLAIR COLLEGE AMAZING SKILLS CHALLENGEThis month, our team participated in St.Clair College’s three-day event: Amazing Skills Challenge. Our team ran an “Occupation Station” with a fun ‘Challenge Wheel’.The students spun the wheel and completed challenges and answered questions that related to our promising occupations in the labour market.

 

AMHERSTBURG CHAMBER BUSINESS EXCELLENCE AWARDS

In May, Julian Villafuerte represented Workforce WindsorEssex and presented the Employer of the Year award at the Amherstburg Chamber of Commerce’s Business Excellence Awards event. Our congratulations to the winner, Seasons Retirement Community Amherstburg.

 

WINDSOR-ESSEX’S 2019 VITAL SIGNS SURVEY:

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit and the Working Toward Wellness Committee are pleased to present the 2019 Working Toward Wellness Luncheon Series. Come learn about the Windsor Essex Community Opioid and Substance Strategy, a community driven action plan that seeks to address substance use, and how attendees can play a role in responding to local needs.
