A Resounding Success at the Festival of Guest Nations!
On September 15, Seacliff Park in Leamington came alive with vibrant energy as we celebrated the Festival of Guest Nations! This year marked the largest event in our history, welcoming over 2,100 migrant workers and community members. Together, we fostered connections, shared experiences, and celebrated the diverse cultures that enrich our community.
Attendees enjoyed a variety of delicious food from 9 different vendors, featuring everything from traditional Mexican dishes to Caribbean flavors. The lively atmosphere was filled with music and dance performances from incredible acts like Sabor Latino Band Leamington, Mariachi La Parranda, and Casa Art Ballet, creating a true fiesta spirit!
A special highlight was our Recognition Ceremony, where we honored the dedication of long-service SAWP workers with over 30 years of commitment to our community. These remarkable individuals received certificates and gifts, acknowledging their invaluable contributions.
The event also featured a Public Safety Information Day, where migrant workers and community members connected with essential service providers, including health services, legal assistance, and public safety organizations. This collaboration is crucial for ensuring that everyone feels safe and supported in our community.
A huge thank you to all our partners and volunteers, especially the Windsor Essex Community Health Centre and the many service providers who made this event possible. Together, we’re building a stronger, more inclusive community for everyone!
