Local Area Training Examples
- St. Clair College offers an Energy Systems Design Technology program
- The Canadian Centre for Sustainable Living offers a five day, forty hour course in solar photovoltaic design and installation that prepares students to write the North American Board of Certified Energy Practioners (NABCEP) entry level exam
- Wayne State University offers several alternative energy technology programs including an Alternative Energy Technology Master of Science Degree program
- Canadian College of Health Science and Technology (CCHST) has introduced Solar Photovoltaic Systems Technician to its list of active programs. The course is beginning this fall and is open to any person interested in designing, assembling, operating and maintaining solar technology systems.
The Workforce Planning Board of York Region & Bradford West Gwillimbury produced a report entitled Transitioning into a Green Economy: Living and Working Sustainably. The report provides a detailed occupation analysis and profiles across four main sectors of industry. The green economy will require a skilled and ready workforce that can effectively transition to emerging occupations. The last part of the report lists many educational programs and related certifications.
