What are the jobs of tomorrow in Windsor-Essex?

This question is of great importance to the stakeholders, educational and training institutions, regional leaders and the citizens of this community. Windsor-Essex is experiencing a fundamental economic change that is emphasizing innovation and progress within the sectors in the region. It is crucial to know where growth is likely to be in the next 3 to 5 years in order to develop education and training plans for the workforce of Windsor-Essex.

Workforce WindsorEssex analyzed a variety of statistics to speculate which occupations would be experiencing a high rate of retirement in the next 3 to 5 years, combined with business growth of the various sectors. After the data was collected, Workforce WindsorEssex interviewed approximately 50 employers, associations and stakeholders to confirm these occupations would likely be in demand within the next 3 to 5 years.  

Through collecting this information nine Promising Sectors were identified:

 Agriculture

 Creative Industries

 Construction

 Education

 Health Sciences

 Manufacturing

 Professional Services

 Renewable Energy

 Tourism & Hospitality

 

This report identifies the Promising Occupations within each of these sectors and provides information regarding opportunities and challenges within each sector. Local available training for most of the identified occupations is identified.
