Windsor-Essex in Top 7 Intelligent Communities of 2011
The Intelligent Community Forum has named Windsor-Essex, Ontario as one of its 2011 Top Seven Intelligent Communities.
"ICF is a think-tank that studies the impact of information and communications technologies on local economies, social development and the enhancement of culture," said Louis Zacharilla, co-founder of the ICF.
The communities are named based on analysis of nominations by a team of independent academic analysts.
"Each year, to salute the best practices and world-class communities, our awards program identifies those communities that ICF and it's analysts believe represent the future."
According to the University of Windsor's online Daily News,
"Windsor-Essex had been named to the forum's Top 21 communities for the past two years. The 2011 application showcased a number of initiatives, including: the Connecting Windsor-Essex activities, City of Windsor Open Data Initiative, WindsorEats.com, Workforce WindsorEssex, Learning Disabilities of Windsor-Essex's Technology for Tomorrow Program, the regional WebEOC initiative, the W.E. Pay It Forward project, the award-winning work of Leamington Area Drip Irrigation, programs of local hospitals and recent investments by OYA Solar, Polar Racking, Ford Motor Company, Samsung, Silken S.A. and Solar Source Corp." …Read More
