How WFWE Spent Their Summer Vacation (Part 2)
What I learned from Workforce WindsorEssex
By Joseph Bakhos, New Beginnings, summer student placement

There are a lot of connections I’ve made here, from meeting new people like Bill Marra, the man who created the summer jobs program at New Beginnings, to making new connections with youth by traveling to Ingersoll and learning about their youth centre.
I learned about myself and where I want my life to go. When I first walked into the Workforce WindsorEssex office, I thought I knew what I wanted to be but after spending so much time here it has really opened my eyes to show me that there are many other opportunities and paths that I can travel. I find this is the same for all the youth in Windsor; they just need to be educated and given a chance to experience what they can do now, so they can know for the future.
I also learned that Windsor is a great place to live. After being at Workforce WindsorEssex and seeing all the amazing potential Windsor has to grow and become the city it should be, it makes me want to stay here for a very long time, because Windsor is our city and if we want to keep it around for a long time we have to stay loyal to it.
So, I just wanted to thank everyone at New Beginnings for giving me this chance to gain some work experience and learn about my city, and I wanted to thank each and every member of the Workforce WindsorEssex team for all that you’ve done for me and our community.
The WFWE team would like to thank Joseph Bakhos and New Beginnings for another excellent summer. For more information on New Beginnings or how you or your business can get involved in their Summer Jobs for Youth program, please visit the New Beginnings website.
