Hundreds of young people participated in CBC Windsor’s Town Hall

  No Place Like Home

CBC Windsor has been asking what it is the young, tech-savvy children of the Baby Boomers are looking for in a city – and whether Windsor has what it takes to attract and keep Generation Y.

On Tuesday, November 29, they brought those young voices together for a special town hall hosted by CBC News Windsor at 6 anchor Susan Pedler and online host Greg Layson.

Special guest panelists included: Windsor Mayor Eddie Francis, City Councillor Al Maghnieh, Vincent Georgie from the Odette School of Business, Dave Bussière from Admissions and Recruitment at the University of Windsor and Michael Lomonaco from Open Systems Technology in Grand Rapids, MI.

The audience was encouraged to use their mobile devices during the event to chat with Greg, tweeting with the hashtag #cbcwdr. More conversation can be found on CBC's facebook page.

Many who responded during the interactive event said they wanted more than just a job, they wanted a career.

Some guests suggested there needs to be more white collar jobs.

Portions of the town hall meeting will air on CBC Radio 1, 97.5FM and on CBC News: Windsor at 6.
